The guardian of a female student at the North South University officially lodged a complaint in the past week against a male teacher of the university’s business faculty accusing him of behaving ‘immorally’ with her daughter and of ‘scandalising a noble profession called teaching.’

The guardian, Saidul Haque, requested the business faculty head to take disciplinary action against the teacher to mete out justice to her daughter and to save the ‘high reputation that the university enjoys in society.

The business faculty dean, Meshquatuddin Ahmed, told New Age on Saturday that he had ‘received the complaint’ against the teacher, Masroor Bin Hussein, and said he ‘would submit a report on the issue to the higher university authorities in a week.’

Saidul alleged Masroor had married her daughter, ‘following mutual understanding,’ on January 16 and suddenly broke the marital bond after the families had mutually decided to socially solemnise the marriage on March 31.

Masroor divorced her daughter, ‘shattering the girl emotionally’ and ‘humiliating her socially,’ without showing any reason. The guardian of the student alleged ‘Mr Masroor is badmouthing about my daughter in and outside the university campus.’

Saiidul also complained the teacher ‘did not do such injustice to my daughter only, he also did similar things to another girl in the past’ reportedly to have been ‘having an illicit relationship with some other girls on the campus.’

Masroor married another girl a few years ago and divorced her three months after the marriage. Meanwhile, a New Age investigation shows Masroor enjoys the notoriety of being a ‘playboy’ on the campus, while many students do not complain in fear of reprisals in terms of ‘poor credits’ in examinations.

Masroor claimed he ‘is not aware’ of his ‘playboy’ image at the university and denied the first marriage.

On an inquiry by the business dean, Masroor initially denied his second marriage with the university student.

Masroor Bin Hussain, a teacher of the business school of North South University, has protested against a recent news item, headlined ‘Guardian accuses NSU teacher of immorality, seeks justice for his daughter’, and claimed that he did nothing illegal or immoral in marrying the female student and subsequently divorcing her.
The New Age reported on Saturday, quoting a female student’s father who has officially complained to the university authority, that Masroor shattered the girl emotionally by divorcing her, ‘without any reasonable ground’, even before socially solemnising the marriage. The girl was the second wife of the teacher in question.
In a written clarification on Sunday, Masroor said he had known the student of the university’s business school since November last year, got his marriage with her registered on January 16 this year and ‘exercised’ his ‘right to divorce’ on April 10, as he found her ‘short tempered’ and ‘emotionally unstable’.
‘I fail to understand as to how my acts were found immoral’, said Masroor, arguing that ‘both the acts conformed to the law of the land and Islamic regulations.’
As regards his first marriage a few years ago, the teacher said, ‘I was married once before, but it ended up in a divorce due to emotional and intellectual mismatch.’
